DALLAS (KDAF) — I mean, let’s be honest. Have you truly “shop til you drop” unless you shopped at the Galleria Dallas, Grandscape, NorthPark Center, or even Highland Park Village? And that’s just naming a few out of hundreds of different retail destinations that have landed Dallas in the top ten for retail therapy.

According to a new study by Storage Cafe, Dallas comes in eighth place when it comes to shopping for retail therapy. Shockingly surpassing New York and other hotspots in the U.S.

But when the numbers are broken down, the news won’t surprise you. When it comes to Dallas, the city has the fifth largest amount of retail space per resident with more than 51 square feet.

That’s huge when you realize that Dallas is home to over 7,750 establishments including malls, fashion boutiques and more. In total, the metro area spans nearly 409 million square feet of gross leasable retail area, according to the study. This is supporting the more than 143,000 individuals who work in retail, according to the study.

With a hefty household income averaging almost $83K, Dallas area residents devote over $10K annually (12.5% of their average income) to retail expenditures alone.
