East Jordan students are raising money for a project that would give other students hands on experience working with plants and vegetables.
Through the East Jordan Shoe Club, they’re hoping to raise $75,000 for a new hoop house and improving their current garden behind the school. What they grow would also go to use as fresh produce for the elementary and middle school.
The shoe club has done many projects over past 14 years, and Student Elke Knauf said they hope this newest venture will inspire others. “This project, when we get it fully funded, it’ll also give an example for other schools to do the same thing when they see that we’re successful,” she said.
The Shoe Club has organized a GoFundMe in hopes of raising the $75,000 by Earth Day.
